Trucking Insurance Renewal Checklist
If you're leased on or running under your own authority, here's what to have ready when renewing your insurance policy.
1. Vehicle & Driver Updates

Make sure your truck/trailer list is current

Remove any units you're no longer using

Double check your driver roster: name, date of birth, CDL state/number, and experience
2. Documents You'll Likely Need

Last 3 to 5 years of Loss Runs (ask your current agent if you're unsure)

IFTA Reports for the past 4 quarters

EIN and cargo details (be specific: paper, reefer, hazmat, etc.)

MC/DOT number status
3. Coverage & Billing

Review your liability, cargo, non-trucking liability, physical damage, occupational accident

Ask if you can split policies (sometimes cheaper)

Check your billing plan (monthly, escrow, finance company)
4. Certificate Holders

Make a list of all certificate holders and any special wording (waiver of subrogation, primary/non-contributory, additional insured, etc.)
